Kristine's trip here
California bear
This past week, my sister Kristine has been visiting us with her husband and three kids (including the newest member of her family Ellie). We had a lot of fun with them. Last Wednesday, we went to the beach with them for my other niece River's birthday, and then afterward we went to Chuck E. Cheese's. It was super nice at the beach; it was warm enough, in fact, to actually go into the water without freezing. The temperature was above 90. I had a good time watching everyone play in the sand and ocean. My little niece River was actually swimming in the sand. So much cuteness! Kellie had to convince Kristine to take beach pictures of Ellie, which she didn't want to do because of the sand, but she was happy afterward that Kellie was there to convince her to do it. We had a great time at Chuck E. Cheese's as well. There are a lot of games, and there aren't very many wide aisles to drive my chair through, so I stayed in the same spot and watched people have fun.

On Thursday, we had early Thanksgiving with them, which was exceedingly yummy. Somehow, they managed to cook all of our favorite Thanksgiving dishes. I spent most of the day hanging out with Preston, watching Empire Strikes Back and Spiderman cartoons on Netflix, while also napping. I was really tired that day. After dinner, my dad dropped me off at church for a meeting. I also had my first wheelchair tumble just before the meeting. I went down this grassy hill in my front yard, fell forward in my chair, and then I nearly flipped my entire chair over. I really wasn't hurt at all that I could feel, but my dad hurt himself catching me (at least trying to catch me) and then hurt himself even more tipping me upright. I feel really badly for him. My feet look very bruised and swollen, but other than that, I'm pretty much just fine. I should probably go to the doctor's office and get them checked out. My feet are probably my least favorite part of my body. Even when they aren't discolored and misshapen, I feel like they are pretty gross, so you can understand my reluctance at wanting people to look at them.

On Friday, Kevin and Kristine went up to visit Kellie and Steven at their house in Running Springs with Ellie, while we went to Mulligan's and played with Preston and Eva. That was really fun. We only had one car seat, so my mom had to take two trips to get both children there. Preston and I and Kori got to hang out by ourselves for a little while, and it was fun to watch them interact with the other children, mainly he bossed them around.

On Saturday, we went to SeaWorld, which was a lot of fun. We got to see Shamu show, the new dolphin show, and Pets Rule. We got to see the sharks and the Magellanic penguins, and we got to go on the Sky Tower Ride. We also watched them take the little kids on the Sesame Street rides. That was all we had time for, besides having a little snack at the Italian restaurant there. On our way home, we decided to stop at In-N-Out. Eva was so passed out that even when Kristine took her out to eat with us, she never once woke out of her coma, despite being jostled and bumped and being around loud noises. It was quite adorable. Our food was really good, too. I had the hamburger with grilled onions, and Kristine and Kevin had cheeseburgers and fries all animal style. My mom had a veggie burger (no burger patty, but comes with all of the vegetables and sauce, which she said was actually pretty good) with french fries. It was a very fun day.

On Sunday, we all went with my parents to church to see Ellie get her blessing. It was super tender, and I was glad that I got to go. We had an awesome traditional Sunday dinner afterward with roast, mashed potatoes, salad and vegetables. It tasted really really good to me.

On Monday, they had to go home. They left here at around 1 PM, and they didn't get back to Idaho until yesterday around noon. It was sad to see them leave, but at least they are coming back in January.

Yesterday, we got the Xbox Kinect in the mail, and it was fun to see them try to play it. We also completed this flat Stanley thing that we are doing for KeriAnn's class. Then, Cecilia came home, which was good, because she had been in Pennsylvania for the whole weekend. She took me to an awesome church activity, even though she was so tired. I had a great time while I was there. Then, I got to play Rock Band Three with my mom and Katelynne for a little while.

Today, I hope to get many things done. It's very ambitious of me, and I hope it works out!

Ooh, Rock Band 3! How does it differ from RB2?

Well, the most exciting difference is that it has keyboard compatibility (like piano). You can also customize your characters a lot more. You can move your eyes in or your cheeks out or your chin up or whatever. Also, when you customize the body type, it actually makes you fatter instead of just bustier. They also let people go in and out during songs, or even change difficulty levels within a song.

Besides just getting five stars for doing a good job or whatever, they also have challenges that give you some spades, so each song is worth 10 stars/spades instead of five. Some of the challenges are going into overdrive as many times as possible, only deploying overdrive when you have full overdrive power, playing accurately in the spotlight, playing accurate sections, going on streaks... stuff like that. It's actually pretty fun. Also, after you finish a set, you win things instead of money.

Any songs that you have purchased with either Rock Band One or Two will work with Three. The songs are pretty good, too. You've got Bob Marley, John Lennon, The Doors, Foreigner, Roxette, Huey Lewis and the News, etc. Although I will miss songs like "Don't Fear the Reaper," I'm glad that I still have all of the old downloaded ones to choose from, too.

Oh yeah, you can also sing harmonies on a lot of the songs, which is a ton of fun. Up to seven people can play at once if you have all of the instruments (guitar, bass, three singers, drums and keyboard). The keyboard is really fun to play, according to my mom and sister. On the songs that don't have keyboard, you have the option to play guitar or bass. There is also a pro-section of guitar/bass/drums/keyboards where you can plug in actual instruments (like actual guitar or bass, you still use the rock band drums and keyboard) and then you play the actual part from the song you are playing. I'm not sure how it works with guitar, bass or drums, but it looks like fun on the keyboard.
